H&R Block The median annual salary listed here for seasonal tax preparers in Oregon at HR Block is 37k, with a range of 31k-44k. I don’t understand how this is possible when I’m seeing hourly wages for tax preparers being listed elsewhere as average of $19 per hour. This checks out for full-time, year round work. But I want to know what seasonal tax preparers who work only in tax season make during a season. Obv I can multiply $19 by the number of hours/weeks in tax season, but am I missing something??

I am stuck in IR purgatory. I hate IR. I started off my career ten years ago as a deal guy. Then my firm asked me to shoulder IR responsibilities as well. Now I am finding each job I change to promise “you will do both IR and deals” but it’s always a lie. The firms just want a fundraiser. Deal people are more plentiful. How do I get out of this trap?
