The number of districts that people submit applications to before getting hired seems really varied! I've heard everything from 15 to over 100. I've personally applied to 15 so far and plan to add at least 20 more in the next month. I'm mainly focused on public school districts, but I'm also thinking about exploring charter and private schools. How many districts have you applied to?

Be very careful to check on pay scales.

My husband works in a charter high school. They do not have to follow a standard pay scale of any kind - nor do teachers have to be certified. He was able to negotiate a decent salary since he specializes in AP math classes, but other teachers on his staff are paid 1000's below public school teachers in the surrounding area.

I applied to about 25 districts before I got my first interview. I wish I had considered private and charter schools sooner since it seems they often have quicker hiring timelines.

I can totally relate! I’ve applied to about 18 districts so far and have a similar goal of expanding my search. It’s exhausting, but I’m hoping something clicks soon. I’m also looking into charter and private schools to widen the pool. Have you found any particular districts more promising than others?

It is relatively easy to get a job teaching in Texas. I left teaching mid-January after just over 13 years in the classroom. I haven't felt this happy in years!

So I had 3 deals scheduled to either close end of May or mid June which were all pushed to end of June/beginning of July. Which is when I have my first vacation planned for over a year (I take 0 time off). My whole family is flying up and we’re renting a cabin near me. What do I do? I’m running one of the deals, semi running the other one and not doing much leading on the other one. Note: I was supposed to not be running any of these. Do I find a back up first or tell the partners first?
