The Open Door Policy at my firm is a total trap. Management keeps saying they want feedback and transparency, but the last associate who spoke up about the bonus structure was restructured out of the firm a month later. It’s created this culture of silence where everyone complains in the breakroom but smiles and nods in the meetings. How do you handle a firm that says they want honesty but clearly rewards yes-men?

Everyone on my team is leaving the firm. The PPMD who hired me left the firm before my start date, now two seniors have left in the last 2 months. My team will be down to <3 with no manager/SM/PPMD. A Manager/PPMD from a diff. City is going taking our “office” over, so I’ll be the random staff that lives out of state but reports to them. What would you do?

Want to start saving/investing from this year. Got £11K and will have £2K a month to invest - any recommendations? I don’t want to take crazy risks, somewhere where this is steady long term growth. I went for 3 interviews with a company met with vp and was given package thinking I aced interview there was another candidate 😞 the other person for the job. The VP calls me to tell me I didn’t get position however he wants me to re apply in new year that something else will be open, and that he wanted to keep a copy of my resume what does this mean ? I have successfully cleared the Skill 1 and Skill 2 interview rounds and was now expecting that the next would be the HR round.
I have been mailed that there is there is a third round before the HR round that is going to conducted the next week.

Skill 2: Semi Technical + Managerial

I am lead counsel on a case - we’re suing 3 businesses and my supervisor is a named incorporator of one of the businesses although he is not an officer. He is asking me to bring the file and meet with him about the progress of the case. I reminded him of the conflict and he stated that the conflict was resolved because he also has a claim against 1 of the companies that he recently filed separately. I don’t see how that resolved the conflict…and he’s fully pressuring me to meet. How to respond?

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years). There are an increasing number of passive aggressive comments from the partner who expects to be completely hands off once the case lands on my desk. Can anyone who has taken a career sabbatical to travel/explore other interests share their experience with both leaving their jobs and returning to the legal field?

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? Hi new here. Idk what my value is and if I’m getting paid an amount that reflects my hard work. I am a paralegal for a small law firm (family and immigration) w only 1 attorney. I have about 20 files or more in my rotation at a time. I work on various types of cases at once. Some are simple, others are extensive. I feel like it’s very unstructured and one of the managers micromanages. It’s like every man for himself. Take home pay is $50k. I am working on my bachelors deg. Do I get paid enough?

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.
