There is a lot of talk right now about keeping people in work and making workplaces more inclusive. I had someone tell me this week, “I do not want to leave, I just cannot keep up like this.” That is not a capability issue. That is a support issue. What does a genuinely inclusive workplace look like in practice, not just policy?

Flexible hours and work arrangements helps a lot for those that might health issues, disabilities, child or elder care responsibilities, parents, etc..

I agree. I have seen flexible working make a real difference when it is actually supported, not just offered. It only works if managers genuinely allow people to use it without pushback.

A workplace being inclusive doesn't sound like the problem if people are being overworked. Give people proper time and compensation for the work they do. Buzzwords, kurigs and cartoon posters won't do that.

I get this. If workload and pay are not right, nothing else matters. I have seen places talk about inclusion while people are stretched. That disconnect is what people notice most.

Anyone here downshift in life post service?

Feel like I've been going full bore for the past decade and literally have no problem continuing the trend. Like I could just keep marking milestones and grinding or whatever until I die.

Wondering when if anyone else felt similar and decided to pull back and do something more relaxing. What was the catalyst, what are you doing, and are you enjoying it?

I'd considered taking up a 9-5 somewhere but not sure if thatd wear off fast.

For those working in house, how much “from scratch” document drafting are you doing vs. reviewing and revising “outside documents”. For example, if your company wants to enter into a joint venture company with another entity, are you drafting the company agreement “from scratch” or is it based on internal forms? Or are you getting outside counsel to do it?

I work heavily in AWS and am looking to learn another cloud platform. I have zero knowledge of azure and gcp and would like input on which to learn. Azure would make sense since its the second largest in terms of market share, but GCP seems far more interesting and technically challenging with things like Kubernetes and BigQuery.

I have been on a planned personal sabbatical this year pursuing personal interests. Now I’m ready to go back to work. I will have next week the second interview with an exec recruiter for a company for a Director level position reporting to the COO of the company. In addition to having relevant experience and accomplishments handy, I would appreciate any pointers for having a good interview at this level.
