We like to make ppl think so
There will always be some turbulence in finding where you fit in at a firm. Might be one or two bad projects. But if you’re good at your job you can find a way to create boundaries and hold them.
It depends
Depends on the project?

Strategy is higher hours. Tech implementations are lower on average but have busy periods. And can be very high burn if your Partner is not a tech person

If the partner is not comfortable, you’ll get micromanaged and every 1 day delay is going to be considered a nightmare.
This is exactly what I’m wondering. I am trying to transition from property management to consulting at a big 4

B4 is fine. Probably 50 hour weeks on average. T2 and MBB hours are very different.
There are reports published on this every year
Where can one find those?
I dont think the hours are necessarily insane, but consulting is absolutely not a 9-5 and is not the industry for you if you want true work life balance
Will caveat: I've been staffed exclusively on CDDs and have had nasty weeks (start at 7AM, end at 1-2AM). Even on the toughest weeks, I've only had to work 3-4 hours on the weekend at most, and anything on top of that was gravy (prep for the week after for my own benefit)
Ah, the eternal WLB question.
What I've noticed is that you have a saying in that (especially as you climb the titles ladder). Especially if you deliver good work.
Set boundaries and people will follow them. Use a give and take approach and everyone will be happy.
My daily hours are 9AM to 9pm on average, with some long burner days stretching later.
