Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

Well, share price is going good thanks to generous share buy backs, dividends are 15% up in Q3 FY24. The three biggest shareholders hold together 20% of the available shares. Considering their metrices are met, i think its unlikely. Hopefully her contract is not extended..
All at the sacrifice of the employees. This is not sustainable.
Talk on fishbowl? I think there’s a solid argument for making a change but I don’t think anybody has any real intel. It’s logical to assume the board looks at stock price, talks to people on the ground (at least senior MDs), and looks at the macro environment. On the first two I don’t think she has a good story, on the third she wouldn’t be wrong if she pointed to the fact lots of our competitors are struggling.
This doesn’t hold water the same as it did. We’re used to be a consulting company with different ways to overcome many different economic environments. Plus, our competitors are still giving promotions to their talent.
Julie is not in an easy spot. The market is oversupplied. The old big SI projects are not as prevalent. No transformational leaders have emerged. The AI stuff requires completely different talent. So the only choice is to just drive hard, cut costs, keep shareholders happy with buybacks, and hope things go OK until she moves on, replaced by an Indian leader or an outsider if things are really bad.
