How do you deal with loud neighbours?
Hey Guys,
I got a call from Infosys HR on 16-September-2022 that I have been successfully selected for the job position of Test Analyst at Infosys, as per our conversation I have to receive an offer letter within 15 days, but I haven’t received it till now.
Now They have sent a mail that your Candidature is on hold. Is this happened with anyone else also.
Please do suggest on this guys.

Slalom is where managers/directors go when they can’t get promo at big4 and jr staff go when they want to be local / have better balance. Not trying to disrespect but it’s what I’ve seen many times over the last few years. It is a well run, growing firm with a solid list of clients and a fun culture, but it is definitely lower end. They have competed against us and sometimes we win, sometimes they win. Usually when they win it’s on price for a job that just didn’t need a big firm.
Think of the model as mostly staff aug with some oversight and thought leadership. People get paid fairly well but overhead is lower so their billing rates are lower than ours. If a client has a job that needs to get done and wants to source a team to accelerate and do a decent job with heavy client oversight, they call slalom to get an ex big4 team that will do a decent job. If a client wants to really drive a transformation that is hairy and complicated, and it’s an client exec oversight project. I think there are other less risky, but possibly more expensive choices.
My concern with jumping to slalom is where you go from there. They don’t really seem to promote much from within (there just aren’t as many senior roles as we have). Your brand will be weaker after being there for a few years. It could be good for someone who wants to slow down and possibly exit the industry or downshift in the medium term (parenthood, entrepreneurship, etc). Or maybe someone that is just happy doing client work and getting that paycheck. Nothing wrong with that. Other firms like this are north highland, west Monroe. All decent shops to consider
Will comp be comparable? I’ve heard Slalom is much lower
PWC 1 nailed it, damn!
Body shop. Local but low senior career growth opportunities and lower salaries . It’s not a partnership... so no making Partner there.
They’re less interesting work but more local. Seems like the opposite of what you’re looking for...
Yup - wasn’t for me. More body shop - lower level clients and fairly uninteresting work
Thx yes not bothered about local more culture and autonomy/entrepreneurial spirit. Thanks for feedback!
Slalom partners and Fish - Does anyone know the Partner/VP level intake - are there many roles at that level at Slalom? Less operational than IBM/ACC? More client facing and sales? Interested to learn more about the executive leadership level and how one can best contribute / type of roles.
There’s CSL (client service lead) which handles a single account and CSP (Client service partner) which handles multiple accounts. Above that is MD which oversees accounts and practices, and finally GM level which operates the entire office
Thx P1 - any idea if comp ballpark - day a partner level at acc/ibm runs a client or a cluster and VP generally runs a practice or industry (band c). Above that you’re running a whole region or major business unit (band b). Also are there GM level roles beyond just the regional office (I know it’s more of a local geo focus business).
Slalom is big but not profitable, at that level I would be concerned as to the economics of the business (low EBITDA)
^we’re profitable
^not compared to other firms
Md1, ok there, kevin
Who the heck is Kevin?
Slalom seems to be growing 20% YoY. Mind you it’s smaller so I can understand law of large numbers. From what it seems like, they are investing heavily in skills and branding. Mind you ... this was a staffing firm not so long ago
P1 are the GM roles only managing offices or is there latitude to come in at GM and play a role beyond that as I imagine each city only has one GM?
I think it seems to be past body shop stage. What’s your source @kpmg
I worked at Slalom - it’s still trying to get past body shopping, and not there yet
What’s the level of staff aug work? Is it 50/50 or it’s 9/10 projects are staff aug. I know it varies but what’s the consensus... what’s the largest SOW slalom signs? Are we talking 7 or 8 figures?
