Do I work at a toxic workplace?

We had a team touchbase where we as a group were asked our concerns regarding year end. I raised my concerns about staffing/expectations (the team is 75% new) since last year was demanding with us being up to 1 AM the day before deadline.

My director was on the call but not my VP. My VP reached out today and said he doesn’t appreciate hearing such comments on the grapevine but I was confused b/c all i did was answer the question I was asked.

From now on, forget about safe spaces. Think about it: the problem you’re pointing out has been around for decades. The only way you can open your mouth without hurting some senior leader is by first speaking in private with the senior leaders and talking about solutions. Because, trust, the senior leaders know there is a problem. But they also know that, so long as not everyone is visibly frustrated, things will operate normal. A problem with culture is not as easy to fix, compared to let’s say a market competition.

Maybe the VP meant that if you had escalated to him directly earlier he could have fixed?…

I’m assuming there are several layers of hierarchy here between OP and VP. It’s VP’s job to ensure that everyone is aware of that direct line of communication. Not saying that what you said isn’t true, but the tact used by the VP is horrible.

Only worked till 1am one time? Bruh

Or until 1am, even if it was once. Don't normalize that bullshit

Hi fishes!

I am seeing too many post about awards like rising star, Kudos, etc. People keep telling there managers recommended them for these awards.
My manager doesn't interact much with us. I consider myself as some one who has worked hard for project and other intiatives. Should I ask my manager to consider me and if yes how should I initiate it.

Thank you.

Is it okay that I’ve been a slow junior as we’re hours away from closing? I’m trying to be proactive and available to cross things off the list but I’m SLOW: takes me long enough that they do it themselves (even though this wasn’t an issue earlier in the deal) and even on quick tasks or emails, they respond to it before I can click send. There’s also so much about closing that I don’t understand and I feel like I’m bothering the higher-ups on the team whenever I ask. *end anxiety post*

How to deal with an overly paranoid family member? I've been working from my parents place for the past month and my brother recently came home for the holidays. Out of all of us, my brother is the most cautious, but to the point where he is paranoid. Like, he will wear 2 masks, doesn't see anyone, uses hand sanitizer after touching anything (like his shoelace), and doesn't use grocery store baskets (holds everything). I respect his habits and I've been pretty cautious (cont. in comments)

Am I being dumb here - just purchased a fridge from Lowes, delivery next week. Just found out through company perks that I could get it from a different retailer for $600 less but it is back ordered meaning it could be weeks or months until I get the fridge…. I am leaning toward keeping my order with Lowes … current fridge works, it is just old and shelves / ice maker is broken.
