I would not expect litigation to be among the groups let go. We’ve been ridiculously busy this year, like we usually are in a downturn.
Litigation tends to be countercyclical.

No—if you like clerking and are gaining experience, stay. There will always be a firm willing to give you an offer and signing bonus for your experience. Plus I think the market for litigators will actually be better in a year to 18 months. Usually economic downturns spur litigation.
I’d be more worried about coming in as a third year with significantly less experience in the day to day responsibilities expected for someone in your class year (largely, in terms of managing discovery).
Fwiw, I had a two year clerkship and didn't think I gained as much from it my second year as I did in my first year.
