Thinking about going through interview process at KPMG Management Consulting but worried about salary.
I currently make 80k at a smaller consulting firm.

1.5 YOE
Master's degree
80k base with 4k bonus
Medium COL

KPMG wants me to start out as an experienced associate. Can they match/exceed my current comp? TIA.

Yeah, without a doubt. Ask for high 90’s low 100’s. Will be a stretch to get any higher since you won’t come in as a SA

like

We aren’t strictly on a cohort scale so we have associates making anywhere from 75-120 depending on the city skills and education

I would be shocked if an associate is making under 80k. Go through the interview process and you should be able to discuss comp expectations with the recruiter.

I appreciate the help. Clearly I'm new at this haha.

Ask for 105-110 and let them come down a bit. The more you get upfront the better as you won't get significant increases in salary even later down the line unless you jump. Also assess benefits including 401k match, bonus structure, healthcare costs etc.

like

Which is why you should definitely say 105-110 as a range...so they go down to their "max". Also those are guidelines and not always set in stone.

I got hired at KPMG as an experienced hire associate with 2.5 YOE in NYC at $90, after interviewing for a SA position coming from industry. My promo to SA a year later brought me to $100k and I bounced.

funny

Left a month after promo to SA for Industry at $160k

I’m starting as an experienced advisory associate in m&a strategy at 165k base 25k sign on. So yea, you can definitely get what you are looking for.

funny

Yes. Experienced associate, senior associate, at the end the day we are all asses anyways

Not in MC, but as an advisory exp associate I came in at 75 with same YOE so I would suspect MC pays more

Thanks!

Ask for 100, settle for 95

They don’t, but they’ll throw money at experienced hires.

Gun for 95-100, don’t take anything less than 90

Read that McK is paying 2K higher than BCG this year which means BCG will probably raise again next year to at least match. However, they can’t just copy McK with 2K to match because that would look bad so they’ll have to beat it again. Then McK and Bain will follow. Barring a devastating recession, I’m guessing this means MBB is all getting raises again next year?

Interviewed for Meta exactly 2 weeks ago today. Contacted the recruiter last Tuesday and they said they were waiting to hear back from the hiring manager to discuss the interview results. Anyone that interviewed or gotten a job with Meta how did it take from the onsite to get your decision? Since I had to reach out to the recruiter and haven't heard anything since I assume they're interested in another candidate.

Hi all, I’m currently a solution architect with 1yoe and two bachelors degrees. I also hold two cloud certifications and make 60k a year. This seems very low considering what I’ve seen for average SA salaries for those who hold the AWS SAA certification. Was hoping for some insight on this and if I should seek more compensation. Thanks!

Need a little perspective: Did you get faster at brainstorming ideas as you went along in your career? I’m one of the only juniors at a mostly senior agency and having trouble keeping up.

Art Directors. How protective are you of your references and resources? I have a folder with lot’s of textures, mockups that I’ve spent time building. I even paid for some of those assets. So I always get a lot of compliments on my comps and decks. Sometimes someone ask for my files and I really don’t want to since I put so much effort on that. But I also feel bad being gatekeeper of things.

I started QA at the company I am currently at 3 years ago. Long story short, within 4 months at the company, I was able to make a career change and step into a PM position. Without having the formal education or PM experience, only my 5 years in QA experience. When I started I made $65k and have jumped to $78k. I have seen other companies post $100k+. Annual review is tomorrow. Should I fight for more or look for more somewhere else if I lose that fight?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
