Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

Yes, BDO has a much better WLB and the ESOP should be a big draw if you want to stay more than 3 years. Yes there are always bad days and dumb people but overall I’ve had a good experience at BDO!
Zero positive experiences working at BDO.
Depends on office fit like every other firm but I’ve been with BDO for 4 years and loved it. There’s always things to improve but it’s way better than big 4. Good pay, autonomy, room for growth, etc. I’m in the tax group though

You gotta be nuts to leave Deloitte, or any firm for that matter, for BDO. Particularly right now when everything is in shambles.

Depends on the team, advisory team is definitely better than typical compliance or assurance. Been here for three years and enjoying my time here.

Why go to second or third division when you already play in First Division? Your experience will be more highly regarded with Big 4 rather than mid-tier.
I agree Big 4 carries a bigger name but BDO is currently floating at #5 globally and #6 in the US and each year they are gaining more and more tier 1 clients. Wouldn’t it be smart to jump on a growing firm that could become first division in the next 10 years and are giving everyone ownership instead of just partners?
The chances of BDO becoming first division …. I dont like your chances on their own. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was another round of mergers in the Accounting profession in the next 3-5 years among the Big 4 and some of the mid-tier firms. I say this because of the fixed infrastructure costs and technical support costs that can be rationalised and achieve savings by mergers. Remember it used to be the Big 8 at one stage until there was a merger fest in the 90’s. We are already seeing the PE cconsolidators putting mergers together down the line. There must be money in merging accounting firms and stripping out fixed costs!

No I would not come to BDO now. The company is in shambles. Massive layoffs of great people. Company is focused on wrong things. Took out a huge loan for this ESOP which employees won’t see benefits from until they’re dead probably
