So glad I found this bowl. How do you go about negotiating your salary? I applied for a new role and was offered the job. But the pay we haven’t discussed yet. I never did this and heck I don’t know where to start.

I’m currently in the process of being converted from contractor to permanent. In my initial conversations I was under the impression that I was in a different pay grade and asked for a salary 25k higher than the max allotted for my position. Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

What do you think about working for a defense and space contractor? I currently work at a large space contractor and it’s awful. I legit haven’t learned anything (maybe 3 things and they are very minimal and not really anything) in the couple of years I’ve been here since everything is so controlled and thinking outside of the box is a no no.
