Account Planning Group of Canada studies this in 2019 and there was a fairly significant pay gap.
She/Her, $65/hr, 5 YOE, NYC
Bums me out but it doesn't surprise me. The gap exists in every industry why would ours be different?
I'm she/her, and this actually really kind of appalled and upset me, because I did not realize it was this large or this rampant still. The thing is, I always make sure to get the number I really want, and I ask around different people from different identities (not necessarily on purpose) to know what's reasonable in the market. Obviously I might be getting turned down by clients who would have paid men the rate I offered but I find this so unlikely, and I do have to nod to the idea that women don't always ask for what they could get.
This is a very interesting read. Thank you for sharing.
