I left to the same industry (FS) I worked in audit but had previously gotten offers in a different industry (tech).
I never said my clients names. Just said financial services F500 clients. And when I interviewed at tech companies basically made the point of the skills I had being transferable to other industries.
Most interviewers will not ask for specific names. A "Fortune 500 hospitality company that manages and owns hotels" would be easy enough to explain without going further. Just be honest in the industries you worked and some relative revenue size (especially if private client where you can't give a rank) and leave it at that.
Meant to say public for industry roles
My client stakeholders in industry love talking about how they did things in their prior companies by name. Just don’t talk trash
Even if you are asked about the clients that you worked on you can just tell them that it is a confidentiality issue. I don’t think we are supposed to go around telling people about the clients we are working on.
You aren't and if the person asking you is even remotely professional or knowledgeable they won't ask for specific names just industries
