Today I learned a new thing. One candidate was referred by a colleague of mine in the system. He got selected and offer letter rolled out.

When he checked the system he realized the referral was not taken and the background system captured it as direct hire.

So my friend is not going to get any referral incentive.

I’m currently interviewing with a few top 10 firms and a couple top 100 firms for a mostly remote experienced associate/new senior role. Does anyone have any tips on virtual interviews and how to gauge the culture of the firm and if it really will be a good fit for you? I’m struggling to figure out that out because I used to gauge it on the feeling I got while in their office during interviews. Any suggestions would be helpful :)

How do you get good at thinking on your feet? I find I always need time to think and analyse before being able to answer client queries (even those that are considered simple by others). I don't want to rush and get it wrong. I avoid phone calls for this reason which isn't great when you're in the service industry so it's starting to impact my career.

But then get upset if something is done and it doesn’t meet their exact expectations. See a lot of people slamming their “big firm” experience and wanting to move on from it. I’ve got 2YOE but not at a big firm and can’t help feeing I’m missing out on something (name brand, skills, network etc).
