Thoughts on LEK Consulting culture? Also, are they flexible on pay for associates?

Former LEKer here - spent a couple years there as an experienced hire.

The above responses aren’t completely wrong. Hours typically ranged 55-65 in 5 day work weeks (weekends are completely protected for associates, I never touched my computer on weekends). I had maybe 3 80+ hr weeks.

In general these rough hours drag down culture. I’ll say it was a great decision for me though. Exits are fantastic (PE and strategy roles). Pay is better than basically anything aside from MBB (I was making ~$145k when I left - partners make $1m+ if that matters to you). People are very nice and willing to help, and basically everyone is under 35 aside from partners so the younger vibe helps. Associate classes are pretty tight knit. I’m really happy about the two years I spent there. Feel free to dm if you have more questions. Not flexible on pay for associates at all.

Can you share your exit story a bit more? What level at LEK would you say is best to exit? What was your exit comp, appears you still work in consulting?

Sweat shop

like

Not the greatest analogy - hours at LEK suck, but sweat shop implies hard hours + bad pay. LEK is a sweat shop just as much as MBB by that logic.

Depends on your office and industry vertical. Another data point, I’ve worked mostly 60-70h weeks this year

like

Which office/vertical?

Shorter projects, lots of PE but can also do lots of corporate strategy depending on your sector alignment. Office location matters and determines which sectors you work in (lots of tech on the west coast, all aviation in Boston, F&B and Medtech big in Chi).

Hours are typically 55-65 but not worse than my friends at other firms and no travel so you save the time on Sunday/Monday and Thursday.

Limited flex on pay from my experience.

Good pay vs other non-MBB firms, I averaged around 60-65 hours consistently

When I try to find companies that pay well, they’re all in tech… but all those companies are laying off, freezing and rescinding offers (had one rescinded myself) 😕 so my question to all of you - what industries/sectors are still in demand for marketers/program managers right now that actually pay well?

I accepted a job offer in April to start a few months from now, post clerkship. All conflicts/background check went smoothly etc. Since accepting my offer, the firm has increased their 1st year pay across the board to be higher than my offer was (which was, at the time, what 2nd yeas got). When should I reach out to the recruitment attorney leading up to my start date? Or should I? (Haven't spoken since May) Should I bring up the salary or just assume its higher?

Hi,
Last week I gave 4 rounds of interview with JPMC for the Associate position for WM division.
Last Friday I received email from HR asking last 3 payslips, and all info related to pay along with the ECTC and resume and gave everything over the weekend.
I gave expected as 30 fixed and currently at 20.8 fixed with 4 YoE in analytics and DS and overall 5+.
Still haven’t heard back from the HR.
What are the chances of extending an offer and on portal showing “Under Consideration for interview”
