Thoughts on the CFP designation? Is it still worth considering or have stringent regulations muddied the waters? My goal is to have as many certifications under my belt as possible (to serve my clients the best I can) and I’m wondering which path I should pursue.

We are studying for the CFP... the way things look it won’t be long before there is education requirements to be who we are... it’s been really tough studying at 60.

I’ve passed a lot of exams... MBA, EA, 24.. 7 and 65... but at 60 and while running a two office top producer company I’m struggling.... BUT I will persevere because I believe credentials are going to be mandatory the next time the blue is in charge.

CFP is the highest and most recognizable designation. I do get asked if I am a fiduciary and not a CFP. But I do get leads from the CFP website every once in a while. Also, I had to have CFP and CDFA to join a collaborative divorce group. I do think it is worth getting.

I haven't been asked once, by a client or prospect, if I am a CFP. I have been asked if I am a fiduciary which is why I chose to get an AIF designation. It's a lot cheaper and effectively serves the same purpose IMHO.

I highly recommend obtaining the CFP designation. CFP designation provides you the knowledge and foundation of all areas of financial planning. It illustrates your knowledge, but also your values and ethics. If you were looking for a financial advisor, would you prefer a Certified Financial Planner or an advisor without the designation?

CFP is the preeminent designation, and it’s not close..

Cfp is actually an accredited designation.

Where to start looking for an established RIA? I have not completed my CFP yet.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
