Thoughts on which opportunity? Both sr Project manager roles at large tech companies.
Option A:
- salary: $135k-$140k
- annual cash bonus: $20k-$28k
- sign on stock bonus: $95k
- annual stock bonus: not 100% but most likely around $18k-$25k
- 100% remote with 4 weeks PTO and 8 weeks paternity leave

Option B:
- salary: $150k
- annual cash bonus: $25k-$30k
- sign on stock bonus $85k-$100k (pending offer(
- annual stock bonus: $50k
- 50% travel, 50% remote, unlimited PTO, 12wks paternity leave

A, for sure!

Too much travel for B, plus unlimited PTO is a scam. Can never take it off because of constant work overload, that’s why they offer it.

100% remote saves you time, money, sanity.

like

My predicament. I’m 90% confident in getting an offer from both. But option A will be love most likely 3 weeks faster than option B. But option A has much higher earnings potential

like

Option A for sure. Traveling 50% will be very tiring. Remote work FTW! I’m also seeking new opportunities, let me know if you’re ok referring :)

like

It really depends on the travel thing - or would for me. Other than that, I'm a big fan of cash - so I would take the higher salary. What is the stock worth for each of these? And what are the triggers for bonus? Is it your performance or the company's performance as well. The latter seems to be great during Town Hall Meetings then awful during compensation. I also love the unlimited PTO of Option B.

like

Unless you love business travel, I would definitely go with option A.

like

Op A. 50% travel will creep to 75% and getting PTO will depend on when you get projects finished.

like

If you have any relationships at all. 50% travel will wear you down And destroy them in the long run. It can easily bloom into 6-70% OTR. Nothing like fully remote if you’re good and conscientious.

smart

Yeah that’s fair. When I started in tech consulting we were traveling every single Monday-Thursday. It was BRUTAL. been more or less 90% remote ever since covid. From what I heard from a friend that’s been on a team in the org at option B for a few years it is pretty close to 50%. BUT the 50% is either customer travel or at a company office. So if his customer isn’t requiring travel he’ll go to an office 2-3 days out of the week

Option A - no travel and 100% remote

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?
