Hi, all. I have two offers one from Maersk and IBM for Data Scientist position, which one is good to join?
Does it hurt your interview / career at Facebook, Snap, Twitter etc. if you don’t have an account personally? I’m interested in applying to these companies but am a very private person that prefers not to be on social media myself.
Had a lateral interview that seemed to go well, with an invite for a second interview just 4 days later. Said they'd be in touch. After one week I followed up writing sample. They thanked me and said they'd be in touch "next week" (which was this last week). Never heard back. Any advice on what to do next? Don't want to be annoying, and don't know what a typical time-frame is.
Anyone have a sample email which can be sent to the client when rolling off a project ? For some reason my head is blank and cannot come up with anything
Initial offer eval: Non-FAANG tech Sales ops/cust service ops $165k base $30k RSU at end of year 1 20% ote bonus Currently at 10 yoe, 169k base and up to 40k annual bonus depending on performance. Recruiter initially indicated 165k was max for my geo location (remote role). How should I counter?
Anyone has insights to offer on the culture within Deloitte's Strategy & Analytics practice? I am considering a move to a SC position. Thanks!
Anyone know how product managers are positioned at Apple? I haven’t heard too much about PMs there compared to at other FAANG. Is it “true” product management, agile, or more like project managers?
Attorneys with the firm often send firm-wide emails advising of in house openings with a corporate client, and solicit recommendations or resumes of qualified candidates. Usually the client contact is a hiring manager for the position. How do I show interest without completely shooting myself in the foot? While I ultimately do want to exit the firm, I also don’t want to be openly broadcasting my intent to leave by telling the firm attorney(s) that I’m interested. Thoughts?
Can i remove my frustration here? 1. After last round of interview another interview with development team is requested (sick of these interviews) 2. Received an internal offer which is blocked by current project lead stating company policy is to keep 8 week of buffer period (fuck them) 3. Current client don’t want to say what they want instead asking what can the 3rd party vendor offer, we will evaluate and give your requirements (were they sleeping when they signed contract)
Hi I was planning on applying to Blackrock for their Corporate strategy and development summer internship program. Could someone help me understand the job responsibilities better?
Transitioning from full time agency life to be a freelancer and/or part timer. How have folks negotiated their rate, hourly vs day? For reference, I’m in the Account/Project Management space and have 8+ years of experience. And I’d ideally like the rate to result in more $$ than what I was making when salaried. Thanks!
My manager doesn’t seem to have any boundaries - always saying yes to additional unnecessary work from the client and always working through weekends/nights/PTO/holidays. They are supportive of encouraging everyone else to have a WLB but since they don’t lead by example it ends up making me feel like I’m doing something wrong or crossing a line whenever I set a boundary with them or push back on a request that doesn’t align with our goals or priorities
I've been looking into applying to a position as a medical social woker in Banner. I am currently doing private practice therapy and have noticed that doing counseling 24/7 is not for me. I would love to work with people, helping people and providing a more "group" mentality of help such as classes. Is this even possible?
Client site girlfriend wants to continue after I roll off the project and start traveling elsewhere. I like her but worried about the new distance. Any of y'all been through this?
Glad to know Mayor Lightfoot is sending her kid to school in person and yet Chicago Public Schools are remote. https://twitter.com/fspielman/status/1304105330926911491?s=21
Has anyone experienced being fully scheduled on a client, but not receiving work from a senior and manager as a staff? Recently started in audit (internal transfer from tax) and really anxious about the lack of work/communication from superiors. Any tips on what to do?
Hi 🐠, need some advice. Was told by my manager that time doing research (for info related to my client) is not client billable and has to be charged to the overhead code. This strikes me as fundamentally wrong, esp bc this is a flat rate project so the hours will just affect my utilization / internal metrics, not how much the client is billed. I asked for a non-billable code that counts towards utilization but was told my utilization is fine even though I’d be billing <40hrs & to use OH code
Interviewed for Uber Strategy Manager- what a massive joke. Wouldn't tell me the comp on the first interview. Case studies are 3x the size of any other case study I've done for actual fortune 100 companies. And then interview with everyone and their mother, all who wax eloquent about my solutions. But then the last person gives me another case study to do. Towards the end, everyone and HR is giving me a verbal offer, telling me they're excited about me joining their team, I should join asap.
Why does everyone put Tech / FAANG on such a pedestal, claiming it’s better than MBB. Sure, the comp and WLB may be better, but you won’t be doing as meaningful and impactful work e.g. Govt Covid response, Gates foundation projects, industry defining projects in the space of a few months etc
Pre-covid: I travel with edibles and take them every morning before going to the office. During covid- I wake and bake.
If I reimburse $X and the company adds $X to my paycheck I’m losing money right? Since I get taxed on the $X in the paycheck and end up with less then I spent
What is the “client-side” equivalent role for producers? Does it even exist? How would a producer go “client-side” instead of an agency?
Sick of biglaw but I want to stay one more annual bonus season. I’m seriously burned out and would like to shift gears but I’d like to leave after ending my 5th year. I am potentially looking to just try and hide/keep my head low to avoid work as much as possible/“slack off” and wonder how possible is to do that for a year without getting fired? I aim to maximize vacay time, and just in general try to avoid any work I don’t absolutely have to do.
Does EY offer joining bonus for exp hires when extending an offer? Or should I be negotiating for that?
Anyone looking to get in at BDO? Separately, anyone in the southwest or looking to get to the southwest?
Can you negotiate your time in the company? What I mean is say 401k vesting / matching happens in two year or vacation increases a week for someone with 3 years can I be credited with a year served in the system so that I can vest faster. I understand everything is in a system, so can they do a plus one to my count? I am doing this in case they come in at the low end of salary and can't raise salary. Trying to think of non monetary low monetary benefits to close gap
Do you usually lie about your current salary when negotiating with a new employer? And by how much, 10% 20%? I resent the fact that I am even being asked. What I currently make is irrelevant.
Veteran | MBA candidate looking to pivot into D&I strategy. Thoughts on general HR vs diversity recruiting?
How much experience do you need to be seriously considered for jobs that ask for “5 years” experience? I have 1.5 years of Big 4 experience. Do you typically include the 2-3 years of college (basic bookkeeping) level accounting jobs / internships as experience as well? (Including college part time accounting jobs gets me closer to 4-5 years experience - just not sure if that’s generally viewed as “valid” experience)
Hi fishes, I would like to know how it is working for PwC as a Data Analyst. Ofcourse its a big brand but would really like to know the WLB and work culture.
Is it normal for teams to lose it on each other on a regular basis? I’m fairly new to the B4 and never experienced it at former firms. It starts at the top and it’s starting to take a toll on my performance. Not sure if I need to suck it up and deal with it or start thinking about changing teams. TIA
Meeting with a recruiter at one of the FAANG companies. I won’t be able to move jobs because of H1b /GC at least for the next year. Any idea if I should start off with that or should I just try to understand the work that they have been doing?
What’s the weirdest (SFW) thing huge done while on a WFH conference call so far? I just cut my toenails while listening to a client talk for 30 minutes.
Long story short - my nanny has many conservative values - mom shaming breastfeeding in public, gender specific roles, considering boys better than girls etc. it never bothered me before and I have learned to co exist with her however now my toddler is speaking and understanding more I am worried about him being influenced by her. Further she also has comments against my SO being too involved parent & calling out son as cutie, hugging toddler etc as he is a boy. Contd..
