This is the case with many agencies. Fully staffed with warm bodies until they realize the caliber of people they have because they were in a rush to fill seats. Then the burden becomes how much effort to properly train them vs cutting them loose.
Many of these people were given inflated titles and salaries so probably weren’t even close to being ready for their role yet.
Make sure you take time for your mental health. Set your working hours. Take breaks and your lunch. Go on vacation. Also ask for more money or promotion if you are flexing up. Relay your concerns to your manager. If you are a high performer, they should jump through hoops to keep you.
I’ve left freelancing gigs within 2 weeks bc of valid reasons. You absolutely don’t have to stay.
Caveat: I was NEVER planning on freelancing there again, so that’s something to consider as you burn a bridge.
That’s the thing, I don’t want to burn a bridge with the agency…but I’m carrying the weight of this new account that is in launch mode, and that is not at all what was communicated to me about the job description. Just feels wrong, ya know?
Are you getting paid for overtime? It sounds like a bait and switch to me. They hired you because they knew they were going to fire those other 2. Can you go back to the hiring manager or recruiter and say that this is more work than you signed up for and you’ll need to increase your hourly rate and/or overtime rate since now you’re doing AD level duties as well?
