I do like it now.

Thoughts on a Omega De Ville Prestige as a first luxury watch? Would be ~$7.5K USD at retail. Some friends have said great things about Omega as a starter, whereas others say it’s not worth it over a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (which would be similar in cost).
I personally love how clean the design is, the use of gold, and the thinner band as it links the watch … find the Rolex band design to be too chunky.

Tbh I think you’ve got the colors backwards. The santos is an instant icon in white and the speed master is an instant icon in black. I own both watches in their respective colorways and while it might seem a bit “basic”, both have fit my collection extremely well. The Santos is the “square” watch in the collection because the glashuette 70s felt chunky on the wrist. It’s also the only white dial in the collection since most of my watches lean towards darker colors.
If the choice is between the two in general - I’d lean towards the speedmaster which is my daily wear. The Santos is a bit more flashy, sporty and dressy so it’s typically reserved for more formal occasions, though I have worn it casually as well esp. on the strap. The santos is extremely comfortable in the medium size (but no micro adjust). Both watches are unique enough to have a home in any collection though. I get compliments on both watches all the time, but interestingly enough most of my compliments on the speedmaster come from non-watch enthusiasts and most of the compliments on the santos come from watch enthusiasts.
Just picked up a new white dial medium santos and couldn’t be happier. Fits so well
Santos and don’t look back… speedmaster is great but most overhyped watch in the industry. Think of the santos as Aston Martin and speedmaster as Porsche.
Would love to actaully hear why you disagree. If still capable of independent thought.

Between those two, the moon watch is the right choice. But if you’re considering a white face Santos then that’d be my preference.
I have the santos, honestly it's more a brand watch, I love the look of it but there's nothing more to it on my view, at least not the same, the speedy is a history watch. Speedmaster is on my grail list for next.
Yes and I agree with all of that, but for the masses it's not. If you are into watches and such you will recognize this all.
Most general population will see omega as related to the moon landing or James bond for the non speedy.
I am all in on santos as a lovely piece and if you like the design and are fully engaged in the watch history then totally get it, it's a great watch I'm glad I picked it up but to me the speedy is still a story thats a talking point
black sounds good in concept but if u see it irl it looks like a classier casio

Snoopy!
I went with santos silver dial and no regrets. I’ll probably add the speedmaster eventually

I have both, slightly different configurations but I’d pick santos everyday over speedy

Medium white dial santos all day. Just got one recently myself
