Trying to understand how points work..I stayed in the same hotel twice, same number of nights, same price..I got 11k points the first time and 5k points the 2nd time...anyone understands how?

My agency doesn’t submit for awards, and I’m not saying I’d win if they did. But as much as we say awards don’t matter, it feels like they do at a lot of places I’d like to eventually work. How difficult is it to submit on my own? Or am I better off finding a place that does submit and is willing to hire me without awards?

Very curious to know what other Technical Writers in the Midwest or Eastern side of the U.S. are earning and whether or not that drastically changes if it’s a contract role vs. full time.
