UBS hello fishes,
I’m due to start a director role at ubs London. Does anyone know if I will be issued with laptop or should I purchase my own?

Have always used company laptop in the past but understand at ubs only certain grades get tech. Thanks

Depends on your role. Hardly anyone is given one (ubs.com/remoteaccess) or anything.
I have purchased everything myself.

Only REALLY REALLY REALLY senior people can get a Microsoft surface I think it is. It used to be if you was in WM you got your own laptop due to client data but that changed just before the pandemic.

like

Yes. It depends on divisions. Some have all members from analyst to ED getting the Surface Pro.

You’ll need your own device if you are working from home. As others have said, there were some experimental programs giving out Surface Pros to some pilot users but hardly anybody has them. Everything is through a portal though so you don’t need a high performance machine, it’s a full cloud setup that you just access remotely. The offices have thin clients so you can just get up from one seat and move to another and your login takes you right to the same remote machine, very handy for meetings.

like

They should issue you one. I would ask just to make sure. I hear many places aren't providing laptops to employees anymore.

like

Hi! They do base on your role/responsibilities. But I suggest you ask HR or other employees just to be sure

like

No, all employees are required to use their own device. The Surface Pros that are issued are very few and far between - maybe 1% have them.

like

It depends on your role, if your travel you’ll get a Surface Pro. I have one but I hate working on it. When working from home I log in on an old computer as I prefer working on a big screen and a full keyboard and am too lazy to hook up the Surface each time. I would not count on being issued a machine.

like

They just told me I wont be getting a new laptop; gotta use my own

like

If your role requires to have one. But as far as I know, they do not provide a laptop. They provide for a desktop rather. However, you can confirm it with them if you want to.

Hi everyone!

I've been offered a job at
Publicis Sapient as a front-end developer (React Js).
What kind of work culture, work load and tech stack exposure should I be expecting?
I'm having 1 year experience.

I've also got offers from IndiaMART InterMESH Limited, Amdocs, Verizon and Collegedunia.

All for the role of front-end web developer.

I'm very confused between all of them.

Does anyone have ideas on how to navigate a smaller team environment when everyone’s roles seem to be stretched (hiring for additional people has been taking a while, not sure why). The stress causes some tension and that’s probably not great for the overall morale of the company long-term. I try to ignore and just stay focused on what I need to do yet sometimes proves challenging. I worry it might affect my professional/career growth. Thoughts on this would be helpful, thanks!

Currently going through some negations on an internal role. I’m currently at 88k and they offered me 100k for a position that requires a lot more work. Do you guys think it’s easier to land a higher salary when applying externally rather than internally? Also this is for a territory sales management role. They stated 120k+ is extremely high for that role. What do you guys think? Playing the game?

I've been following Coforge LinkedIn page, and I have decent offer from them. In one call HR said we will be moving towards 5 days work from Office, to which I said I don't mind. Now that aside, their LinkedIn posts everyone at VP SVP levels are joining.. seems like they are growing very fast, as hiring at such high Positions happens only that time.

Question is - whenever I compare Coforge with any other people say avoid Coforge.. Why????

Pre-established sharing privileges of orig folder will apply. Hopefully this saves you time reshuffling open windows! Bonus: Same on standard MS suite files.

What’s the symbol that you can type in a cell so you can input a text, but that text would not appear in the spreadsheet? I want to describe the formula without using a text box, which uses more space.

The equivalent of this is in SQL, you can use the apostrophe in the beginning of and end of a text. That text will not affect the function of the query, but that text can be seen if you proofread the query.
