I had an interview w/ the Hiring Manager at Boston Consulting Group for a position and it went so well that the HM said on the spot I was going to be moving onto the next round. Its been weeks since that interview & I've had to follow up w/ the recruiter 3x asking for an update. I mentioned interviewing elsewhere but prioritizing BCG. He finally responded to that saying he was going to debrief with the HM and get back to me but nothing... what gives?

If you stay in Canadian probably doesn’t matter.

Oh if you exit from the firm I don’t think anyone cares about where you went to MBA. I’m Canadian though but went to undergrad in the US - definitely feel that if I wanted to work in Toronto my friends who went to queens are better positioned. Again more of an undergraduate perspective

Obviously there's a long list of US schools that are ranked better than Rotman/Ivey, but the latter have the hometown network / awareness advantage (example: your average person in a hiring role in Canadian industry probably hasn't heard of Tuck/Darden)
Would you be sponsored for both US and Canadian schools? Asking b/c obviously heading to a top US school will cost more money than Ivey/Rotman
Just one perspective, but I would say: HSW for sure would be worth it. For other top schools, I would weigh a couple factors: 1) For the industry you want to work in, would it benefit you to have an American network? 2) Do you feel like your Canadian network is robust enough as is or would getting more Ivey/Rotman connections benefit you greatly? 3) How “prestigious” it is (I hate saying that lol but your point about Canadians not knowing much about tuck is fair. The more brand name it has, the higher chance it could move the needle for you later in life)
In terms of network in Canada, MBA from Schulich/Ivey/Rotman > anything from the US. Yeah, i did include Schulich in there because their network is pretty strong.
If building a network is not the foremost motive, i am guessing, rigor in curriculum is. H/S/W/Booth > Ivey/Rotman
If you’re trying to stay in Canada then I don’t think it really matters. But there’s something to be said about international brands/reputations that Canadian programs don’t necessarily have. Your MBA brand may not impact your career much but it’ll follow you your whole life and so will the network.
Personally chose Tuck over scholarships at Canadian programs. Don’t have any regrets, although my goal was to stay in the US which seems quite different from your situation.
