The energy of uptown? Did you visit during a major event or something?
I love uptown compared to quite a few other downtowns, but South End is unquestionably a better spot for young professionals to live
If in your early to mid 20s, south end will be better. Late 20s, would probably be fine at either, once you’re 30, you’ll likely feel too old for south end (I felt this by late 20s). Noda and Plaza Midwood are also areas to check that are good for young professionals but would likely feel more fun for someone in late 20s and 30s.
Uptown is dead after 5pm unless there is a game/event. Highly recommend south end.
I moved from Florida too recently and chose SouthEnd. I have yet to visit Uptown since I moved but don’t feel the need to. I would’ve 100% regretted moving to Uptown.
Live in South End so you can walk to the drinks you’re going to want to unwind, because your commute will suck.
By car you’re looking at ~30 min, stop & go traffic in the morning & evening. See photo.
By bus & train, ~ 1 hour.
You’re also ~12 years too young to live in Ballantyne.
Move to Dillworth, Plaza or Elizabeth
South end for sure. No one lives or does anything worthwhile in Uptown outside of sporting events and maybe the museum. All the young people are in southend or noda
