Terrible attitude. Might as well just quit.
I was underpaid by other people at my level by almost $10k (and knew it). Guess what I did , I worked extremely hard and got an early promotion over them, jumping them in both position and in title :) (not in US)
SA 1 you got scammed. They had you for $10k less than everyone else?
Moral of the story. SA1 was full of ish on their first post...
No I wasn't. I was still bitter about being underpaid but I didn't let that affect my work performance and motivation. I left for other reasons.
I saw a great TED talk on a related topic
While a raise will make my life outside of work easier the money really doesn't motivate me. Like, yes, I want more money, but no, you paying me more for my job doesn't increase the satisfaction I get from the job. On the whole I hate that I'm paid to do this. I'd rather be independently wealthy and do this for the joy of the work.
Yuuuuup
I made less than a peer by $500 and it destroyed me emotionally. It wasn't the money so much as the principle of the matter. And the money. Very de-motivating. I still can't believe I still work here.
$500? Seriously? Just wait until you go to private where the salary differences are all over the place ...
@SA1-I have no plans to go to industry. F*** that.
Still waiting on that call
Both position and salary I meant 😜

SA1 is probably making 10k less than his current peers right now.
Keep drinking that cool aid SA1 :)
Oh, I left that job. After that promotion and raise I jumped to another firm for another double-digit raise 🤓
So...OP? How'd it go?
@SA1 there are some very specific details that lead me to be pissed off about such a small pay gap. Primarily the fact that we made EXACTLY the same amount prior to the raise and I had extremely good reviews. But yes, I know it's stupid. Didn't stop me from being upset.
