How bad is it if you get laid off/fired for low performance? Is this career suicide? What happens if you try to get another job?
That’s going to leave a mark - 25k job cuts globally @ ACN https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8660159/Hundreds-Australian-jobs-risk-Accenture-slashes-workforce.html
Just curious what is (if any) the severance pay in case you get laid off from your firm due to a market slowdown.
Is it noteworthy to have worked in the creative industry for 23 years -18 in advertising, without ever being fired or laid-off? Are there medals or gold watches for that?
If you were recently laid off or looking for a new position: we are hiring for two management consultant professionals with at least 5 years client facing experience. Please DM me if interested—thanks!
I'm a first year atty. I make $45K at a small firm of 5. In the last three weeks, my assistant has been fired (caught with pot on break), another paralegal quit, and now another assistant has resigned. I have a caseload of 80, with no help. Boss says they are looking, they made an offer, but if that person accepts, it will be weeks before they are ready. I'm falling apart and crying at my desk and can't sleep. Told owner. "Hang in there." Do I walk now? Or hang in there?
What is your backup plan incase you and your partner (if you have one) get laid off? Specifically curious about how you would handle housing and income.
Would you take a job at a company where the workforce is ranked and the bottom 10% is fired via PIP every year? I can see 2-3% but 10% seems high and demoralizing.
Those that have been laid off recently are you speaking to an employment lawyer at all? What are the reasons to / not to?
I recently got laid off and my previous firm just reached out to me to inform me about a client whose rate was too late on a commercial level but they might be interested in me to work as a contractor
With all these layoffs and redundancies in Consulting, should I ditch my shares in montblanc and moleskine?
Serious question: has W+K ever had layoffs in the last decade or so? I don’t think I’ve ever heard about it if so.
If we have a prolonged recession because COVID lingers much longer than we had hoped, won’t the consulting be kind of fucked for the next 1-2 years? Like no travel benefits whatsoever, long hours, no learning from being at client, limited project opportunities for most industries, always worrying about utilization, layoffs, etc.
Has anyone here filed for unemployment in California? I got laid off 2 weeks ago and at the time was seeing projections online that the fed govt pmts would only cover about 25 million ppl (not sure how accurate that is). My claim is still pending with CA but the total amount projected per week is only $400; doesn’t include an extra $600 fed govt pmt. Does anyone know if the $600 gets added somewhere else in the process? I hope I didn’t just miss out because I was lay-off 25,000,001
Why are PHDs in Data Science/CS/ML being laid off across firms? Do consulting firms not properly know how utilize their knowledge/skills to solve client problems?
How much do MBA consultants make? Why would someone who went to M7 choose to be an MBA consultant versus the other careers afforded?
My boss keeps taking digs at my salary, bringing up how I’m paid highly. I don’t know his salary but I suspect we’re paid similarly which may upset him. Any advice on what to do?
Any analysts here that have been a part of the process of building a dashboard for a client? What tools and resources did you use to research and build?
Would love to connect with someone who works at faang for job opportunities. Not asking for referral, you can refer me if you think I fit in :-)
I’ve been interviewing at one place for over a month now. First a call with their recruiter, then a meeting with their ECD. Then a meeting with the team, then one with the client last week.
Thinking of making a switch from mid-tier firm working in alt investment tax to Deloitte with the HNW individual tax group in NY.. Can anyone describe the hours, salary, culture? Should I go for it?
Excluding doctors and lawyers, do you think that it is fair to say that working as a consultant is a lot more demanding that many other business jobs? (Billable hours, 24/7 availability, etc..)
I am moving from first to third grade this year. I love using the theme of Dr Seuss. Is this an appropriate theme for a third grade classroom?
Could anyone help me recommend an agency/company who would potentially hire me with a J1 visa? They wouldn’t need to have any input into the visa process at all, just need to give me an offer letter.
Flight is boarding and the guy sitting behind me just started a conference call. Has told everyone 3 times he’ll jump off when he has to.
My entire career has been in marketing strategy & analytics, but I want to make the switch to full time marketing strategy (I’m sick of the data work). How do I sell this?
Weighing a Consultant job offer from Appian and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on them? Mainly interested in what type of future career flexibility you’d have after this role.
It’s me with the job interview. I think it went really well, but they asked the “what are your greatest weaknesses in an office environment?” question. Makes me stumble every time
