I have been working in the construction industry for 2 years under a general contractor. I am wanting to get into consulting and my ideal role would be something like an Associate in Major Projects Advisory with KPMG. I’m curious to know which firms/companies have positions and departments like the one mentioned that I could apply for?

How early is too early to ask for a raise?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Question is: can you do better? If so, walk. If not- then that’s the best you can do. The price of a single family home is not relevant, neither is server pay unless you’re willing to be a server.
With all the new wages being implemented in California a job that requires skill and a lot of training is paying almost the same as unskilled that gets additional tips. Cost of living is a factor in what you need to maintain staff or bring new staff to your area. I am part of the negotiations team. What I need is to know how to guage a reasonable offer to unreasonable.
switch to sono brah
Yeah that's too low. I can't provide any market insights, but here in a hcol city outside of CA, Mcdonalds is paying 22$ and Walmart barely below that. You won't get good retention of surgical techs and will suffer knowledge loss without a little more research into the market.
Hcol city?
I told the Administration that techs like me are going to walk into easier jobs. No call, no death, no extreme stress and no chronic sleep deprivation for the same pay.
You can make more than 20-25 as a server if you work at a fancy restaurant. I was making over $30/hour (tips included) as a server at a nice restaurant while I was in college. I’m also from California too
What questions also needs to be asked, is how fast do you move up in levels? Is it by time/seniority only? What other criteria can you advance in level to increase pay? Is there education available to advance to next higher rank/band and is it paid for or shared expense? I would expect the union job comes with benefits that the hospitality field does not, and that is also part of TC, not just an hourly wage.
Wages only increase once a year and its whatever negotiated with the union. You're kind of stuck in the payscale regardless of skill or work ethic. We do have health benefits but pay part of it and our share is suppose to increase more next union negotiations. The benefits is a fair point.
Updated. Here is the initial offer:
Is that annual salary??? Crazy if so. Service industry definitely banks but there are slow seasons where you could come home with less. If you're considering service industry, get a dual license as a massage and esthetics therapist. They make bank too!!! Get a job at a high volume resort, work your way up seniority and youre set!
They are our hourly wages. We ended up accepting because the union discouraged us asking for more. It's a 16% increase for my facility and 5% for others so it might shut everyone up for a few months. Meanwhile i applied at 3 different jobs because the wage isn't the only issue for me.
