We bought a house 2 years ago. The house is built in 1920s and needs work done on the exterior wall. We are exploring stucco versus siding options. If we go with stucco for one wall, it requires an entire redo that costs about 24k. Siding would most likely be cheaper. For those who have done some renovation work, what are some things you would consider when weighing the options? This is not our forever home and the house is located in the Northeast region to take weather into consideration.

Never go cheap on exterior renovation. It will cost you more money in few years.

I would hesitate doing stucco for an older house. Cracks could form if further settling happens. I’d go with siding personally as it would be more forgiving. Also, get at least 2-3 quotes.

Hardie and similar manufacturers make stucco-like panels.

What is the architectural style of the existing home and other homes in the neighborhood? That should give you most of the info you need to make a choice. Also, doing just one wall is going to look strange - consider that you’ll
likely end up doing the entire exterior for continuity’s sake.

My gf and me call each other everytime we have free time. However lately she seems disinterested in phone time. She never initiates calls anymore and she tells me she wants to hang up in the middle of the day and not right before bedtime. We live a 4 hour drive apart. And I told her this is like living together from a distance, because I put her on the house speakers. What can I do to keep her engaged?

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?
