Weird to send a partner / counsel and email after a deal closed saying I enjoyed the deal / working with them and if they ever have anything similar to let me know?

On your side? Not at all.

Agreed. Not weird at all and in fact I would encourage it.

Good move. And more broadly, saying nice things is free and makes people feel good. My view is, if you have something nice to say, why withhold it? Spread some good vibes!

I think it’s a nice gesture and keeps you top of mind

Yeah that's basically what my email was "Hey guys, really enjoyed this deal and would he happy to do more like it. Ill be sure to chase down the post-closing stuff and get it wrapped up"

I got a "Thanks, will do" in response to my email about saying I liked this type of deal and if they needed more staffing id be happy to help so ill take that as a win

It’s the opposite of weird!

Not weird, definitely do it.

Interviewed for Deloitte S&A Tech Strategy SC and got a verbal offer for Consultant instead. I negotiated the offer to 120K salary and 10K signing bonus. I’m a boomerang with 4 years ERP consulting but this past year I’ve been doing DEI Consulting. Spoke with former colleagues who rejoined Deloitte and got a much higher offer for SC. How do I go back to the recruiter to negotiate further? I suggested that I’d probably sign but need time to think. Now I’d like to go back and request 140k salary.

Does anyone feel that the Oil and Gas industry is the most discriminatory industry of all? They won’t even look at resume without O&G experience! It does not make sense to me as I would rather teach someone the specifics of an industry if they were a good fit. And for an industry that has so many obstacles from Government, Environmental Organizations and so on, why they are adding more bad publicity to themselves is not a great approach.

Texans. Just got an offer from a V10 to relocate down and do litigation. Excited but the offer was 20k below market. Talked to managing partner and they said it’s the market in Houston so if I can find other firms paying full market they will raise it since I’ll be the only jr. - mid level. So give me names, who pays cravath in Houston?

Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

Do people proactively begin finding work when they know they may be low on work soon? Or do they just wait until they actually don’t have enough work to fill their days? From a vault ranking perspective, is it safe to assume V100 is all sweatshop big law? Reason I ask is because I want to lateral but not to a gunning big law firm — want to stay in big law but not at the ones at the top of the food chain like I am now. Want some sort of work life balance and wondering if the “lower ranked” big law firms offer this? Could just be my fantasy though…
