I’m 18 yrs of exp, working at Ford in a cloud architect role with a salary of 31lpa (26 fixed + 5 variable). I’m getting offer from Bank of America with fixed ctc of 41lpa for avp designation. I will lose the variable pay from Ford if join bofa in next 60 days. Pl advice if this a good offer considering market situation or should I negotiate @bankofamerica

Do you Expense Golf tournament entries for Industry events that have a golf tournament, or do you pay for that out of your own pocket? Is there a difference whether the golfing is with Vendors, or Customers?

Any insight on what K&L Gates Miami is like? (in litigation)

I am an m&a junior at a firm that is generally considered a lifestyle firm (pay below market but target hours are lower unless pushing for partner). Over the pandemic period, we have had so many senior associates and paralegals leave that there is no one to ask questions to and I’m doing paralegal work (we are all in survival mode). I’m not convinced the partners in my team (who are aware of the problem but cannot convince management) can recruit people to replace given we pay below market.

Are there any books or other resources that mid levels/seniors/counsel/partners on here have found helpful for the project management / managing junior attorney aspects of your job?

I am not finding a lot of stuff written for lawyers specifically , but there is a lot directed at “managers” in business generally that I imagine could be applicable.

Anyone else just sitting around waiting for the ax to drop? I'm a soon to be 2nd year corporate associate who has seen work completely dry up. My utilization held pretty steady around 50% immediately after shutdown, but August was below 15 billables with no appreciable work in the pipeline. Aside from letting people know I'm available and doing pro-bono/CLE, it's starting to feel like a serious "covidcation" leading to termination.

How do people focus in the office? I'm a first year and I've been mostly wfh since I started and I'm super productive at home - my setup is comfortable, I rarely get interrupted, and I feel like I can stay really focused in my home office.

Our SAs started today, so the firm is making us come in more often. My office set up is so awkward, screens are too small, and I'm constantly getting interrupted. Not to mention the extra time it took to get ready and commute. How do people do this?
