Wells Fargo branch advisor role - what’s it like? Can you make good money in this role?

I actually worked as a branch advisor at Wells Fargo for a bit, and here’s the real deal: it’s solid if you’re good with people and comfortable with sales pressure. The base salary was okay, but the real money came from hitting quarterly goals and building deeper relationships with walk-ins or warm leads. I had months where it felt great and others where it was a grind. It’s not a “sit back and advise” kind of role, it’s fast, metrics-driven, and you’ve got to be proactive.

As a Premier Banker, whose primary job is to generate leads and make referrals to the branch advisor, I can tell you I made 2-3 times as much as our branch advisor in each of his first three years.

It can be a grind for sure, and they recently made it so have to produce over 300k in annual revenue before you can hit a six figure annual compensation. This means you have to be very good at moving people from cash and rates to financial planning and investments. Depending on the branch demographic, this can be difficult.

I was a national MVP for 2024 and our advisor only managed to convert about 10 million of the 60 million dollars in referrals/new money that I brought in.

Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).

Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.

Thanks for the help!

I’m relocating to the US from an international rotation to work in Galveston. I have never been to Texas and I am trying to find the best spot for my family to live in. So far from reading online it sounds like Pearland is a good option but I have not been able to validate that/ figure out what other options are out there. I would appreciate all advice:
1. Would you recommend living in Pearland?
2. What are other good areas to live in? Safe and would like to be less than 1 hour from Galveston.

I am so beyond ready to leave my current job, but can’t yet, since bonuses are paid out in January. 😬

In the meantime, I’ve applied to a lot of similar roles (slightly higher) but have not heard - good or bad - from any. Is it common for companies to slow down hiring in December because of Q4 rush, people on holiday, etc.?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.
