Will appreciate if you elaborate more. Will thank you right away :)
Unless you consider SLU, Cap Hill and Belltown as downtown, there’s little reason why anyone would want to live in “downtown,” mainly bc of crime / homeless ppl
This is a really hard question to answer without more details and knowing what you’re looking for and prioritizing. There’s a number of different micro zones that effect your livability - generally being closer to Denny Blaine and south lake union will make your life better. Some factors:
1. Access to groceries/shopping - there’s less basics downtown, excepting the Whole Foods in slu. So more restaurants but harder to find good groceries.
2. Financial returns - prices are more volatile and have been growing slower than the rest of Seattle post pandemic. Do you prioritize financial returns or quality of life
3. Parking - expensive af to find a secure garage. What do you like to do and do you need to drive frequently?
4. Where do you work - are you walking, transit? How close to get to your stops?
Downtown is broadly safe except a few micro spots on the 3rd avenue bus routes, although petty crime is high. Seattle downtown is far emptier than a big city like Boston or NYC which contributes to the malaise in spots.
I like pioneer square personally - only place to get a cool loft in the city and lots of food in the ID

I think downtown living is a lifestyle..if you’re up for it and can afford a higher end condo with security then do it! There’s actually a lot of community down there.
