Reduced workload without anything on the horizon, partners interacting with you/seeking you out less, etc. Those are probably two indicators that you’re at least on thin ice. But not necessarily. It’s easy to get lost, especially as a junior at a large firm, or fall off people’s radars.
We all have moments of "Am I about to be pushed out?" It may get worse, but no matter how bad it gets, keep your wits about you and gather evidence if you see a pattern here. Keep eyes and ears open and just carry on as usual. Good luck to you!
I work with black associates all the time (used to be one myself) and this happens a lot but I would just say that I don’t consider it a push out unless the partnership literally tells you they think you should find another job. When you get pushed out for real you’ll probs know and there will be a deadline given like 3 months, by the end of the year, or November 12th etc. it varies in specificity depending on the firm. Usually the more white shoe the firm is the more vague they’ll be.
I’ll dm you to let you know how your specific firm would likely handle it if you feel comfortable sharing privately.
Doing nothing when your colleagues are relatively busy
If you know partners at the firm, reach out to them and have them submit you. Definitely do that other recruiters. Pointedly ask recruiters if they have placed people in that firm in the past or atleast have direct relationships with partners there. If all the recruiter is doing is filling out a form for you, that is pointless and you have better chances doing that urself.
Shameless plus for the black in law bowl where we discuss topics like this everyday.
OAN I really hope everything works out well for you. Whether they push you out or not, never forget that you have a whole law license which means you hold the license to your career not them.

No one giving you work, minimal or no bonus but that applies to anyone. Or not even getting a review.
