Gift card to a local shop they love or voucher for an experience is usually well received. I try to avoid materialistic gifts.

Hosted events or meals, awards or bonuses are always a nice way to show employee appreciation.

smart

I like my employees to feel valuable to the company, so I usually congratulate them and motivate them with gifts when they do a good job.

like

When one of my employees does wrong I first get very angry and call him to the office, and when he comes in I immediately change my face and tell him that I understand his mistake (as long as it is acceptable), then I show him those moments when he did well and not to be discouraged, anyone can make a mistake.

Every last Friday of the month I invite them to lunch at a good restaurant, we do that during working hours and 2 hours before finishing, that is to say, we go to lunch and everyone goes home or we stay for a drink.

When I find out that someone has a family problem or a sick relative, I give them a hand, talk to them, advise them and tell them that the company is open for whatever they need. I have workers that have been with me for more than 20 years and I feel that their loyalty comes from there.

Every 3 months we have a theme party, the last party was a party about Charlie, Charlie is one of my employees but he had been very sick, so everyone came dressed up as Charlie, it was a very entertaining party and it was a beautiful welcome for our colleague.

In our company, we manage the employee of the month strategy, but apart from that I have a small bonus for each employee who does well, not everyone can stand out, every 6 months we do an Oscar-type award ceremony and there we give out diplomas with the bonuses and everyone attends dressed as if they were attending the Oscar awards.

I find that gift cards and time are most appreciated. If you have the ability to offer paid half days off and things like that, do it. Staff that aren't burned out work much better.

Hi! I started at a new company 2 months ago and while I’m really enjoying my job so far, I’m having a hard time gauging whether or not I’m doing a “good job.” My role seems to be always evolving, which is fine and I actually enjoy being a support to the greater marketing team, but I feel like I need better defined targets to make sure I’m meeting expectations. Also, when I ask my boss what they’d like to see, I don’t ever get a clear answer. (Cont’d in comments)

Thinking of turning down a Google offer. 15 YO overall (5 year PgM exp), been a TVC at Google for 2 years doing the role I interviewed for (no direct conversation anymore, so I went though the full interview process). I got leveled at L4 (guessing interviews didn’t go that well) and the comp has been a bit underwhelming. WDYT fishes?

Base - 155k, Equity: 132k, bonus: 15%, Bay Area, PgM role

Down-leveled when I first joined consulting because I didn’t go to b-school and happens a lot. Sigh.

Anyone know what the average wage for working in a bar/ restaurant in Dubai is I’m thinking of taking an offer to work there but I’m not sure what I should be looking for salary wise

I have an opportunity to be a Food and Beverage manager for a hotel I have been for 6 years. Currently I am overseeing all operations but want to focus more on the F&B world. Would anyone know how much salary I should be asking for this role?

I'm new working in Germany as a chef.
How are the usual salary?

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

I was offered $42k plus bonuses at the interview, but when called back I was offered $44.5k plus bonuses. I already accepted. Did I leave money on the table here?
