Holding cos are all pretty much the same. If you are looking for something different try an independent or client side.
So... is it dumb of me to even be asking? Is it way too much of a broad query? I know we all need therapy being in this industry, but damn.
Pretty much
I’ve been with IPG for 20 years. Been happy with them at every level I’ve been at. Extremely reasonable holding company. I’ve never seen anyone hold up their fist and scowl while mouthing “IPG” for example.
IPG is not a bad network, I think definitely better than WPP but you really have to watch out for what roles and teams you’re going for. It can get political really fast and to the point about diversity and inclusion. I will somewhat disagree on that point. It’s true it’s diverse and inclusive but it’s definitely not fair or unbiased to the point where racism and other prejudices doesn’t exist, again, depends on which team.
I honestly didn’t know this about the D&I or Michael Roth — coming from a WPP agency that has seemingly only *just* started to kick off a D&I initiative and multicultural comms discipline, I’m really pleased that IPG already has the framework in place. As a POC, there’s a boulder of salt I have to hold onto, considering the industry itself is pretty white-dominated and especially so in my city, but seeing this makes me confident in my decision to take the IPG role. Thanks for y’alls I put! I really appreciate it.
Ive liked ipg more than the others 🤷🏻♀️
It seems like ‘tenure’ is more of a thing with IPG agencies — people I’ve briefly spoken with have stayed for years and have/can actually grow their careers than what I’ve seen at WPP, which is why the switch is so appealing.
At an IPG agency, you get a desk. At WPP, you get a desk close to a window.
The grass isn't greener. It's on fire.
IPG US health and 401k benefits were better than average.
IPG has good benefits and a great 401k; in addition to the usual matching policy, if they have a good year, they throw in some extra money.
IPG is 50% match, 75% if you’ve been at any IPG agencies for more than 10 years, even if you went somewhere else in between IPG agencies. Plus performance bonuses when they do well. I’ve made almost a million from their 401k in the last 9 years.
IPG = decent benefits, pays more attention of diversity + inclusion, less heavy handed about smashing agencies together
Firstly, all holding cos are really very much the same. Having said that, IPG seems healthier than WPP.
