You should be able to “speak” their language. Meaning, understand their way of thinking, coding to some extent is also useful. Not in a way that tech people know code, but you should be capable of understanding those nuances. Tech audience is “weird” in a way. My personal opinion that relates to “nerds” definition we all know when speaking about them.
While “general audience” is a regular person, like you and I. And we know them (=us) better.
I’d say if you don’t hang around people who work in tech, regular tech-savvy people, or own a business that’s in tech, it will be harder to learn how to market to them. I know off the top of my head you’ll have to learn and understand their jargon.
Best thing to do is hang around people in the above mentioned paragraph to understand their wants and needs. You can also browse through the tech subs on Reddit. Anywhere you can freely observe them virtually will help
