Hi Londoners ,
Moving in from outside UK.
Looking out for some areas in west / NW London where one can live with an infant on max 1400£ rental while requiring one partner to travel to Central occasionally for work and the other person 3 days a week to LHR.
Some Qns:
1) Will 1 Bedroom be too cramped for the infant to grow up? Should I raise budget?
2) I prefer being in family /childcare friendly areas. Had Harrow, Acton in mind . Are they good for my budget or any other suggestions?

As long as it’s either within budget or around the same cost as the cheapest option then brand doesn’t matter.

Best advice I have is to book where everyone else is booking. If they're booking the Ritz, book the Ritz. If they're booking the courtyard Marriott, well...

Yeah… optics matter, unfortunately. Unless you have discovered some magical rate and the rest of the team are dumb dumbs who have never traveled (ie an unlikely scenario in consulting) you’re best sticking with the herd.
Depends on the cost and the budget. Each engagement I have been on had guidance on how much we could spend on a hotel room. They didn't care if we stayed at Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn as long as we booked through our travel portal and stayed within budget.
Usually, like most people have said, see where the herd stays and book accordingly.

Do it. What do you have to lose? You're new and probably have some firms barely following up after your final interviews. Or you can call back whichever you declined with a change of heart.
