Hi everyone, I have 2 years of experience in a service based industry as a Java developer, and I am eager to work hard and switch to a reputed product based organisation, but I am not getting proper time to study and practice data structures and algorithms, as I have so much to learn and understand things which are related to my project. Any suggestions would be appreciated and I'll try to inculcate it. Thanks in advance! Amazon Oracle Samsung Microsoft Cisco Salesforce Arcesium Uber
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

It depends.
In major market consulting, your work speaks for you.
Mid-major-to-small markets, staffing firms, and governments use PMP as a hiring discriminator.
It has no intrinsic value beyond the doors it opens - again, it depends what doors those are.
Everyone I have met with that has been seriously trying to compensate for deficiencies. It's happened so many times that I've formed a bias - right or wrong, it has a negative connotation to me....like calling a tiny house on the market cozy, or a dated one charming.
If you do it, do it to learn....but I wouldn't advertise it. Just this lowly person's opinion. :)
Non top 40 MBAs are a lot like this IME
Yea its the only place that will certify pimps
Useless in my opinion.
Super useful for public sector work tho
Does this make a difference in marketing communications? Debating next step: masters deg., PMP, APR, or online certs like google/FB. Thoughts?
Just have the title, got it!

Industry standard for traditional project management. although I have the CAPM cert, I found that the most useful aspect is the framework in itself and being able to apply it in most PM scenarios. Also, the CAPM cert in itself is useless so go for the PMP if you do decide to pursue a PMI cert.
Depends on your speciality/industry. If PMO is your space, it’s a great credential/tool to have.

my very reliable signal for when a person is a mediocre mind and worker is seeing PMP in the email signature. 100% of the time they suck. also rarer but equally bad is MBA in email signature. to me it is like saying HS graduate in your email signature - tacky and broadcasts that you think very highly of this relatively easy to get cert. for the record, I have a pmp as well. it is buried in my resume and LinkedIn to show up for searches for people who may care and no one else.
