I find it irritating but they’re Copywriters, not Proofreaders, so I’ll give them some grace.
Gifted writers can also be dyslexic.
Sign of a lazy writer, not a bad one.
It’s not that hard to learn grammar and spelling. I feel like it’s part of the job and it’s a professional obligation to learn, but I’m in the extreme minority. I also think reading a lot will improve your writing exponentially, but a lot of writers don’t like to read, so that’s also weird to me.

A lot of conceptual copywriters in NY for example are immigrants so English is their second (or sometimes third) language.
Most important is that copywriters have something interesting to write or say. Proofreaders can then spot some minor mistakes.
I don’t understand why some comments are almost suggesting being precise and being creative as a writer are mutually exclusive, and again I’m not talking about small mistakes that happen every once in a while, but A LOT OF grammar mistakes and typos. When I get a line that needs to be designed I also have to proofread it. And yet I’m not even from an English speaking country myself but I know to use auto correct…
The best authors in the world still have proofreaders & editors helping them out, and sometimes the wrong grammar is what’s right.
Got Milk is technically wrong, and a writer knew that it was what’s right.
there’s a pretty fine line between here and it obviously helps if you absolutely know what you’re doing.
You need to know the rules of grammar in order to break them. Got milk isn’t even technically incorrect, it’s just very brief and informal.

Just want to point out that your favorite author has editors and proofreaders reviewing all of their drafts ✨

We fired all of our proofreaders ten years ago.
I was a journalism major so typos are especially irritating for me. That said, mistakes happen and spelling isn’t everyone’s strong point. But I like to hire people with cross-functional skills and an eye for detail (helps mitigate bloat), so making work for other people would test my patience and count against you if I’m tasked with running a tight ship.
Eh my partner does and I still love her. lol I just do a little proof read just like she gives my comps a once over!
I think copywriters are human.
Lazy, Capital L. That goes for everyone.
As a copywriter who struggles with spelling, I suggest several layers of spellcheck. Download multiple different software to catch everything and even when you’re not sure run it through GPT or another editing software.
Poor writing skills impacts us all. The amount of time I spend proofreading reports and fixing grammar mistakes makes me feel like a middle school English teacher more often than not.
Copywriter’s aren’t writers
And for you as well
I once worked with a copywriter that had typos even in her resume. She was somewhat a good writer but she was messy in general, that translated to the way she worked. It really annoyed me but our CD loved her so good for her I guess
Lazy, rushing. Spellcheck is literally right there when typing. At least do the minimum
Fire them. This should be a job requirement.
proofreaders for copywriters is like studio designers for us art directors. they’ll fix our mistakes
It’s their job to provide you with accurate copy. It’s literally the job.
Recommend using a copy editor. They provide technical help and proofreading.
