Being uncooperative is worse than presenting bad ideas. Let him hear feedback from actual CDs.
Get over yourself.
Unless your CD is an idiot, they can tell. If they are an idiot, you now have two problems.
One team. One dream. He is never going to get better without direction from the CDs. Let him hear it. And try to riff with it.
Visual Storyteller
I used to feel this way but you really just have to take it to the CD. you can give subtle body language hints that it's not your favorite idea but you really should not shoot it down.
My partner and I have a rule. If the other person loves it, we’d bring it and let the CD decide. It’s the best way to get around any conflict.
The CDs know that the person that presents the idea came up with it - so let him
Present it
I have a different take… when you put your name behind bad ideas it hurts your reputation. I have very high standards for my work. Let them present it themselves.
If it’s that bad, time to shop around for a new partner. Make sure your ego isn’t really the problem.
Help him with encouragement and an example of working to improve. Discuss great work with him and get him engaged in determining what makes work great. Even if he’s tone deaf as a creative your efforts to help him will help you improve as well. Your CD is most likely aware of your partners weaknesses. Seeing you as a supportive partner will also be seen and appreciated.
And the person who said to get over yourself- that is toxic. Please ignore. Everyone has an ego and it’s normal.
