Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

In general, salary negotiation in New York is expected so it’s pre-baked into the preliminary offer meaning the first offer will be at the low end of the scale. They expect you to negotiate up and the general advice is to ignore the offer and counter with as high a salary as you can reasonably justify because also, you’ll be expected to justify your counter offer. You can’t just throw a wild number out but also, you won’t be penalised for trying. In my experience in London, a counter offer outside a previously stated range has been met at times, with offence. And if the job is through a recruiter, they’ve been outright hostile (understanding their cut is based on the candidates accepting the agency offer number. But in NY recruiters generally receive a percentage of the signing salary so they work with you to get the highest reasonable signing salary.) London also seems to operate less on individual talent-based salaries (i.e. agencies willing to pay a premium for awards and other individual accomplishments) and seem to rely more on salary bands. But this has just been my experience as a New Yorker working in London. I don’t report to the CEO so may be different higher up the food chain. Either way, wishing you the best of luck!🤞
This was super insightful thank you!
