It’s a fancy name for any kind of tech upgrade - it can range from anything truly innovative to just a minor upgrade (adding a few new screens for e.g.)
It's referring to a shift that most, if not all, businesses must make in management mindset, business processes and business models, and of course technologies in order to survive in today's world.
It's due to the disruptive technologies and business models brought about by Silicon Valley, like the cloud, democratization of data and AI/ML, big data, and IoT.
What's a joke?
We will digitally transform your organization through dynamically-scaled infrastructure and cloud-enabled innovation.

"Digital Transformation"
Rising Star
When you replace traditional analog clocks/watches with digital ones
Bruh PowerPoint has a transform your slide function now so that it can look like an 8th grader developed your slide deck.
No one knows. Even the people pitching it. It’s all vapor ware.
Its these posts that make me think “if our clients were on this app, they’d realize that we all have no idea what tf we are doing” 😂😂😂
Biggest consulting buzzword of 2017?
Mmm, try 2013/2014.
Even tougher questions, what does “business transformation” really means? Interested in hearing from management consultants
Here you go!
When you go from pen and paper to Excel.

Its when you added a small enhancement to an existing website handling 10k tasks already and tell client that now their problem was solved with the digital solution.
Prepare another 20 slides for the small fix added in a webpage.
Loved this post. Thank god I’m not the only one.

Depends on what you’re selling. Can range from SAP, consulting services, cloud, Salesforce, service now…
Well you’ve obviously heard of analog transformation, but buckle your seatbelt because this is entirely new

Robots will eventually do your powerpoint slides
I generally think of transformations of as organizational changes that include more than just a different tool, process, or org design, but rather completely new expectations of how they will work. This often includes how leadership supports them, what good looks like at the team level, cultural norms, and working agreements with indirectly impacted business areas. I think of digital transformations as just a subset of that focused on blockchain, advanced analytics (ai/ml), or iot. It’s not just replacing analog processes. It’s about being able to have entirely new forms of thinking/decisions that can only be achieved with those capabilities.
That’s fair. Generally, it’s how I’ve seen the buyers and client leadership speak and make sense of it. In simplest terms, we go in and develop business cases for analytics. If we see an opp for a client to make a next best action recommendation engine for their salesforce, we’d have to articulate the ROI on improving salesforce interactions with customers. Additionally we’d have to consider whether it’s feasible to build and maintain the recommendation engine given the current state of the workforce and operations. Do they need upskilling or does the client need to hire out? Do they have the right data inputs for the engine? Often times the bs part comes into play when using industry benchmarks to explain the value of this. Rarely are these innovations but more so just copycat solutions that the client’s competitor is already doing.
Taking money from client for the work they can do themselves
Haven’t you seen Transformers? It got caught on from there
