What does that next promotion at work actually mean to you?

I’m currently a Fair Housing coordinator & have been practicing in the Housing Law world for about 7 years. I am trying my best to get my foot in the door for corporate law. Any suggestions on how I can begin? I have a bachelors degree & currently pursuing a certification in Paralegal studies. I need pointers on how I can get accepted at any Corporate Law Firm. Everyone asks years of experience and that’s exactly what I’m trying to get. I’ve been proven to be efficient anywhere I’m placed. Help!

I’m currently 22 weeks pregnant and due in mid-December. I will be on leave during our performance review period and just started at my company in April. Been in house for about a year. I just found out that a new hire who has 1-2 less years of experience than me (but will have the same role/title as me) received a compensation package significantly higher than me, mostly due to the market dynamics with law firm associates’ compensation being ratcheted up the past year. Can I ask for an equitable raise mid year? And if so, how? I got rave reviews but an immaterial pay bump (3%) at year end in December.

Ill be an HFA after I pass my last test. My remit quadrupled+ in a recent re-org with no increase in pay/promotion, my new director is new to the company and was zero help, and I was passed over for recent promotion during the comp cycle. The new director essentially began shutting me down any time I ask for clarity in my career progression. The HR contact has reached out to me several times reassuring me they are interested in me for the role, but they are still in the process of interviewing others. I had several interviews with people at this company. It’s been a little over 2 weeks since my last interview. Is this normal?
