I am frustrated as a Gay Woman who has given her all for 30+ years grinding to be the best. I have been in closet, out of closet, in-between and am tired of it. I want to be VALUED as a human being. I have gone from Rock Star to problem when people "found out". I have trained and promoted hundreds of people and been passed over for promotions because of not being a man. I have trained men with less experience, worse results only for them to move forward. If Diversity is important...prove it!

Coming out of UG, I accepted my first job b/c I thought I had to based on status of other interviews. I ended up quitting after 8 weeks in favor of an opportunity I perceived to be better, but took longer to get. 7 months into the new gig, I am NOT happy. Someone on LinkedIn expressed disappointment about the lack of diversity from the big law firms in TX that were posting pics of their summer associates. A managing partner commented that he thought the post might be about a pic he posted (12/14 SAs were white). He tried to defend this by saying that they had LGBT and socioeconomic diversity. The fact that he recognized that his pic might be part of the problem says it all. Law firms need to do better. Sorry, I just wanted to rant.

He stayed optimistic and passionate about the job, and asked me again for advice about reapplying this year. I don't know what to advice him. His resume looks good but didn't even get a chance for interview
