If you’re really that close why are you leaving? Isn’t your network at your firm worth a lot more right now?
It makes sense to me. Work/life balance is usually terrible and most partners look very unhealthy and unhappy. Remember to look at total comp when you leave, particularly if you are going into industry where restricted stock awards and bonus comes into play. It can be quite lucrative even if the initial lift on salary is 10-15%
If you're really that close, 20%, 40k signing bonus
Depends on area. But I know PwC’s Director/SM cap is 250k regardless of area or LOS. Strategy& is not limited like that.
If your 2 years away from partner then ask for 250, at a minimum. Everyone else sits on that cap for several years.
Wait but really why are you leaving? If you are legit going to get promoted in 2 years, you’re 1 year away from creating your business case and getting sponsors and everything. This makes no sense to me.
Stakeholders moved around so I’ll have to rebuild either way. Type of work, pay bump and equity potential are the main reasons.
I got an offer of 10% and negotiated it up to 12.5% at base of 225
20-25%. At this level I'd take nothing less. Leaving behind your network, years of knowing a firm to go to the unknown where you have to start over again. That's a lot at this stage in your career to leave for a bump you can get on a very good performance year. Your new firm needs to show that they are truly invested in you and your success.
P2 thanks!
