Edited Response -
Emerge is just a rebrand of their Regional Delivery Teams. It’s a group of folks with more specialized skill sets that are used to supplement local offerings. So some travel in the geographic region, like “West” or “southwest”.

I can, however, speak to the Staff Aug component. It does happen. If you’re more of a specialist, probably less likely, but if you’re in the Business Advisory Services pillar, you might see a fair bit of it. And to be honest, sometimes it’s not all that bad. You put in your 40, you do your PM thing at a client, and you’re done.

Hi. Can I pm you. I recently just accepted an offer for slalom emerge. And I still have some uncertainty.

Work/life has been good at Slalom. If you’re on top of your work, you shouldn’t have to work more than 40 in a week, and sometimes you can slack off and it feels like less. Obviously there are crunch times depending on the project, but in general management encourages you to keep a balance for work/life.
With Emerge - it’s just the old RDT rebranded, meaning unlike the rest of Slalom there’s a potential for about 30% travel within a “region” when travel returns.
Comp is dependent on your interview, your manager, region and negotiation. Can be on the low end depending on the market, but the bands are wide and within “market rate”.
Culture was great when things were in-office! They continue to make an effort on virtual experience, but ymmv. Looking forward to going back to the office.
Projects are a mixed bag. But that’s the same everywhere. But your management will listen if you’re having a bad time in a project and re-index for future staffing engagements, which helps a little, if the project is short.

Lol RDT!

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? TIA!

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?

Hi - I’ve moved to Toronto (from Asia) with 5 YOE in Corporate banking + 2 YOE IB/capital markets (7 YOE in TOTAL) working roles in Front Office and financial analysis.

Believe I’d be a great fit as an Associate in the same space at the major banks (RBC, TD, Scotia, CIBC etc) or in PE/ Asset management.

Could someone help by mentioning the salary ranges I can expect?

Also any tips on networking would be appreciated. Thank you!

Morning all. I am looking for a favour/solid advice. I've been in the interview process for a dream role over the past month or so and just found out I didn't get the job after final round 🙃.
