OP - some parts of the firm treat that role like an MD, others treat it like an overpriced SM.
It boils down to things like: do you have a big delivery team / revenue that you manage and can drive renewals, do you own senior client / buyer relationships, do you originate sales, are you independently driving your Chargeability ?
If yes to all the above you will be treated like an MD, if no to most you will be treated like an overpriced SM.
I have an offer to join Accenture either as a Senior Manager with a lower sales target or as an Associate Director with double-the-target (with a 10% increase in base pay)? I am leaning towards the AD offer Vs SM. Any guidance from fellow fishes?
I would say Take Top End SM find your feet in Accenture...see if you are the right fit....and then ask AD in next promotion cycle ...if you are good they would do it...
Associate director is level 5 - one step above Senior Manager (level 6) and one step below MD (level 4). I don’t know enough about Avanade to talk about comparisons unfortunately

Group manager is pretty much SM
Thank you all for the responses. That helps! I believe Avanade does not have an associate director position. Do y’all know what the average time is to go from group manager to Director at Avanade?
