It's not worth it to leave one consulting firm for another for that little of an increase...unless you're really that unhappy. You should be looking for a bump to 115 -120k. Tell them you're not leaving for some $400 a month raise
Yeah, you’ll look a little flaky, but who gives a crap - you want what you want.
Be professional and say after some consideration you’re super excited about joining but you ran the numbers and would want to target between 115-120 to make a jump.
I would do it on phone. Sound confident, you got this.
I recently negotiated an offer with slalom and ultimately turned it down. Can you share your region (vaguely) and the offer they’ve made? I can tell you how far they stretched for me.
With 3 years of experience, and a HCOL, I would counter and ask for $125k. They’ll likely come back with an offer at 115 ish
They offered me more, but I had ~7 years experience.
They said that they thought 100k was a good number but she’ll go back and do what she can
Typically you get one shot to counter. I’m assuming they’ll come back with your desired ~105k.
People sometimes take pay cuts to come to Slalom. However, I wouldn't advise that at your level of experience. Definitely reach out via email with what SC1 said. Changing jobs for 10k gross seems bonkers.
And ask for a signing bonus. That shouldn't be difficult.
Stand up for yourself. No one else will in these situations. And Slalom won't walk on a candidate over a sliver of money.
OP I am in the same boat D to S and same base and experience, I asked for 120k and got it.
NE region in a HCOL city (haha). They offered $100k base salary, no signing bonus
How did you negotiate? They called me with the $100k offer but I wasn’t very clear in what I wanted at the time..do you think it’s ok to email them now with my desired salary or should I wait to talk on the phone again?
What did you say on the phone?
I basically said that I make $95k base at Deloitte and was hoping for a 10% increase
Hmm. And what was their response when you said that (trying to gauge the situation)
Agree with D1
A 20% bump should be minimum.
D1 is right
I already indicated that 10% of my 95k base is what I wanted..would it look bad to change it to 20% now? And is this something to discuss over the phone or I can email the recruiter?
SC1 thank you so so much for your responses. They’ve been so helpful. I didn’t realize I could ask for so much with only 3 years of experience but I guess aim high right? Thank u again ☺️
