Do you think Milbank hate DPW?
McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

These have changed drastically over the years.
When I was at Roche-Genentech they rented out candlestick and choppered in the black eyed peas for a Christmas party.
At sanofi they rented out dorney park entirely for us as a late summer event.
At J&J they used to bring in rides and a county fair type company at our site for families. We also used to have these global meetings at destinations for weddings and retreats.
That’s all been gone for a while, but we still have gyms, health product reimbursements, etc.

This resonated with me so much! Genentech has changed so much but they still have fun parties if they can escape the meetings 😂
We get onsite massages twice a month which is pretty cool. Occasional team lunches and dinners. Holiday party around Christmas. Baristas onsite twice a month. And then some random bigger office events for holidays (Thanksgiving, Halloween) or over the summer since the office property is very nice and open and has some amenities. Theres also a gym and you can rent bikes outside but I don’t use those.
In the late 90’s when I worked for a Berkshire Hathaway company, we would get free massages on Friday. They quit that and replaced it with a ‘free ice cream sandwich’
I don't mean to rub it in your face but just saying because you're curious. We’ve got everything from wellness stipends, on-site fitness centers (free, thankfully), to regular lunch & learns, leadership speaker series, and global volunteer days where we get paid time off to work with charities. There are also employee resource groups (ERGs) for everything like women in leadership, LGBTQ+ employees, working parents, etc and they host social events, networking mixers, and mentorship programs. My personal favorite perk is our annual wellness week, where we get free health screenings, fitness classes, massages, and workshops on stress management. Oh, and the offsites are usually pretty solid.
It’s one of those things where the scale and budget of big pharma makes a real difference. Definitely one of the perks of being at a larger org.
